Buffer policy

Set the default supply buffer policy of each inventory strategy, to protect your products against late suppliers.

The Buffer policy page sets, for each inventory strategy, the default supply buffer policy: how Flowlity protects products against suppliers that deliver late. The default applies to every product of that strategy that has no policy of its own.

This page does not set the buffer level, the minimum stock or the reorder point. Those are set per product in the Product strategy panel. See Configure your inventory strategy.

Who changes it: usually a supply chain manager or an administrator. The page shows only for users with the right to edit products.

Where to find it: at the bottom of the sidebar, click Settings, then Parameters > Buffer policy.

What you can set

The page has one section per strategy: MTS Flowlity AI, MTS My min, MTS Reorder point, MTS Reorder point + AI, and MTO. See Inventory strategies for how these names match the strategies in the Product strategy panel. In each section:

  • Type:

    • None: no protection against delays.

    • Time: Flowlity plans the delivery dates of the orders ahead of the date you need the stock.

    • Stock: Flowlity raises the Flowlity Min to absorb the delays. Only the MTS Flowlity AI strategy offers it.

  • Supplier Delay: the delay to cover, in days. It must be 1 day or more. With None, there is no delay to set.

How to change the default supply buffer policy

1

Open the page

Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then Buffer policy.

2

Choose the site

Pick the site in the Site menu at the top of the page.

3

Set the policy of each strategy

In the section of the strategy, choose the Type, then enter the Supplier Delay in days.

Good to know

  • To give one product its own policy, open its Product strategy panel and turn off Use default policy in the Supply buffer policy section. See Safety stock settings.
