# Assortment

Decide which products are carried in which stores or warehouses, by product family or product by product.

The Assortment module manages which products are available for ordering in which stores or warehouses. You set it per product family across all your sites, then handle the exceptions product by product, instead of keeping the assortment in a spreadsheet.

In the sidebar, go to **Revenue optimization** > **Assortment**.

{% hint style="info" %}
Assortment is enabled per company. If you do not see it in the sidebar, ask your Customer Success Manager to activate it.
{% endhint %}

## How typologies work

A typology is the size class of a store for one product family: it decides how much of the family the store carries. Each product of the family has a level: 0, 1 or 2.

* **Basic**: the store carries level 0 products only.
* **Medium**: levels 0 and 1.
* **Large**: levels 0, 1 and 2.
* **No typology**: no typology is set for this family in this store.

Higher typologies include all lower ones. When you give a store a typology for a family, the matching products of that family are activated in that store.

For example, a family of 30 coloring books has 10 products at level 0, 12 at level 1 and 8 at level 2. A small store set to **Basic** carries 10 of them, a flagship set to **Large** carries all 30.

The tag category that defines the families, and the level of each product, are set up with your Customer Success Manager.

## How to give a product family a typology in each store

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the Tag view

In **Assortment**, click **Tag** at the top right. Each row is a product family, each site column shows its typology in that store. The list is always filtered on the tag category that defines the families.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Click the cell of a store

Click the typology of a family in a site column. The list of typologies opens.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Pick the typology

Choose **Basic**, **Medium**, **Large** or **No typology**. The change is saved right away.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## How to assign a typology to many families at once

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Show the stores you want to change

In the Tag view, use the **Sites** filter to keep only the stores to update. With no site selected, all sites are shown.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Select the families

Tick the families in the list. To give one family the same typology in every store shown, use **Assign typology to all sites in a row** in its row actions instead.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Assign the typology

In the bar that appears, click **Assign typology**. Pick the typology: the dialog says how many tags and sites it will change. Click **Save**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## How to activate or deactivate a product in some stores

Most products follow the typology of their family. Products tagged with your company's exception tag are managed one by one: these are the exceptions.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the Product view

Click **Product** at the top right. Each row is a product, each site column shows whether it is active in that store.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Switch one store

For an exception product, click its cell in a site column. The tooltip tells you what the click does, for example **Active - click to deactivate**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Switch many products at once

Select products, then click **Activate on all sites** in the bar that appears. The menu next to it offers **Deactivate on all sites**, **Activate on selected sites** and **Deactivate on selected sites**. Selected sites are the ones chosen in the **Sites** filter.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## How to review your exceptions

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the Exceptions tab

In the Product view, click the **Exceptions** tab. It lists only the products managed one by one.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Narrow the list

Search by reference or name, or filter by **Sites**, **Tags** or **Suppliers**. Open the columns settings to show tag categories next to the products.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Check a product in the other modules

Hover a row and open its actions: **Open in Demand** or **Open in Planning**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## How to go from a family to its products

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Hover the product count

In the Tag view, hover the number in the **Products** column. A preview lists the first products of the family.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Open them in the Product view

Click the number. The Product view opens, filtered on that family.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## How to save your setup and export it

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Save a view

Set your filters and columns, then click **+** next to the view tabs to create a view. After a change to a saved view, click **Save view** to keep it, or **Reset view** to go back to it.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Download the list

Select rows, then open the menu in the bar that appears and choose **Download the list in XLSX**, **Download the list in CSV** or **Download the list in TSV**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Good to know

* **Two views of the same data**: the Tag view sets the rules per family, the Product view shows their result per product and holds the exceptions.
* **Exception tag**: the tag that marks exception products is chosen in **Settings** > **Tags**, with **Used as exception tag in assortment**. A company has one exception tag.
* **Customers**: when your site works with a customer axis, the Product view also has a customer filter.
