Comments

How comments on products and orders work, who sees them, and how unread comments are tracked.

Comments let you leave a written trace of a decision where it was made: why you raised a forecast, why you moved an order, what the supplier told you. Your colleagues see the comment the next time they open the product or the order.

Where you can comment

  • Products: in the product details of Demand, Planning or Pricing, click the comments icon in the header to open the comments panel. It shows when you look at a single product, not in an aggregated view of several products.

  • Order lines and orders: in Supply orders, open the order details and add a comment on the line.

  • Supply agreements, capacity units and Tactical simulations also have their own comments.

Comment added on an order line in the order details

One thread per product

A product has one comment thread, whatever the module you open it from. A comment written from Demand is visible from Planning, and the other way round.

Comments left on an order line also appear in the product's thread, with the order number and links to go back to it (Open in Order page) or to the product's plan (Open in planning). This way, the product thread tells the whole story of the product.

Unread comments

A dot marks the comments you have not read yet. Hover a comment from a colleague and click Mark as read once you have seen it, or Mark as unread to keep it as a reminder.

Writing and deleting

  • Type your comment in the field at the bottom of the panel (Your comment...) and send it. A comment is limited to 256 characters.

  • You can delete your own comments. Deleting cannot be undone.

  • Writing comments needs the comment permission. If you cannot add a comment, your Customer Success Manager can change it for you.

  • Order line comments can be included in order exports. This option is off by default: your Customer Success Manager can turn it on for you.

A worked example

You cut an order line from 500 to 300 units because the supplier warned you about a shortage. You add the comment "Supplier short until week 42, rest ordered from second source" on the line.

Four weeks later, a colleague opens the product in Planning and wonders why stock is low. The comments panel shows your note, with a link to the order.
